State Representative Livvy R. Floren’s leadership skills and her ability to work with legislators on both sides of the aisle have made her an especially effective voice in Hartford for her Greenwich and Stamford constituents. Livvy’s record of achievement with the House Republicans led to the appointment by Republican Leader Larry Cafero to the Bonding Sub-committee where she serves on the State Bond Commission. She also serves on the General Assembly’s Finance, Revenue & Bonding Committee, the Select Committee on Aging and has been a long-time member of the Government Adminstration and Elections Committee.
Representative Floren serves with a variety of community organizations and has been active in local government and politics for many years. She understands the special needs and challenges facing the 149th District and is committed to deal with them.
Representative Floren is a former member of the Greenwich Board of Estimate and Taxation. She also served two terms as a member of the Greenwich Representative Town Meeting. She is an associate member and former treasurer of the Greenwich Republican Town Committee.
Representative Floren’s civic involvement includes: the Air Conservation Trust Board of Trustees; co-chair of the Boys and Girls State Commission; and advisory board member of Community Centers, Bridges School, the Greenwich Point Conservancy, and the Stamford Watershed Association.
She formerly served as a trustee for Community Answers; a trustee for the Garden Education Center; a trustee for the Greenwich Community Fund; Board President for the Greenwich Country Day School; President of the Greenwich High School PTA; a Greenwich Library trustee; treasurer for Hortulus Garden Club; a Round Hill Community Church trustee; Round Hill Nursery School’s Board President and as a member of the YWCA’s nominating committee.
Representative Floren was employed as a public relations manager for Reddy Communications, Inc. from 1964 to 1986. She has been a substitute teacher for grades 4 through 6 at the Greenwich Country Day School since 1986.
Representative Floren graduated from Vassar College with an AB in economics; from Adelphi University with an MBA in finance; and completed all course work for an MAT from Manhattanville College.
A Greenwich resident for 44 years, she has been married to Doug Floren for 49 years. The Florens have four children: Jenny, Melissa, David and Clay, and six grandchildren - Greta, Dean, Bella, Anna, RJ, Lina, and Magda.
